Kellee Hays is a board-certified Lactation Consultant who joined Virginia Pediatric Group in 2015. In 1991, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science at Purdue University with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She earned her Master of Library and Information Science: Legal, Health and Science Concentration from Indiana University in 1993. She then began her career at the UCLA School of Medicine's Brain Research Institute as a project coordinator in the fields of the neuroscience and sleep research. After relocating to the East Coast and while taking some time off with her three children, she became a La Leche League leader offering assistance to breastfeeding families. Kellee found working with new families very rewarding and chose to return to school and pursue a career as a lactation consultant and parenting educator. In 2011 she became a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and has provided services at Metropolitan Breastfeeding and Sibley Memorial Hospital.
She enjoys teaching breastfeeding and newborn care classes and working with breastfeeding families to help them overcome challenges and provide encouragement and support. In her free time, she likes to spend time outdoors with her family.
